Everything happens for a reason

Life is funny. It catches you at the strangest moments. The last two weeks have been crazy- it's been an emotional roller coaster. Despite all that, things happen for a reason. You might not know the reason but just believe that it's for the best. Take what life gives you and turn it into something beautiful. It might not be what you expected or intended or ever thought would happen in a million years. Whatever it is, there is a reason for it.

I've already talked on Monday about being rejected by every medical school I applied to other than Toronto and being on the verge of giving up. Well a friend of mine told me to not give up hope... So I held on to the thought of hearing back from Toronto (my top choice btw).

Well a miracle happened this week. I got two emails this Tuesday, I couldn't believe my eyes. Not only did I get an interview with University of Toronto MD program but also the MD/ PhD program (my dream for years now). Now back to the emotional roller coasters, sky rocketing to the top this time :P

I mean, Toronto MD/PhD is just wow... Like honestly Toronto? The place where insulin was discovered? Could life get any better then this? I double checked the statistics and the odds are pretty good. They invite about 500 people for interviews and they have around 250 spots (they send out more acceptances because some people reject the offer). For MD/PhD it's a similar idea- 20 people are invited for interviews, 10 get in. It's like all of the previous rejections made me realize just how much I want this.

The few friends I told this too got super excited. I now have interview prep plans with 1 friend and another one is taking me to do more clothing shopping. Yay :)

What kind of curve balls has life thrown at you? Any interview prep tips? :)

PS: I've had the honour of writing a guest post for Z from Kicking Kilos so check it out :)

  5. Congratulations! This is a HUGE accomplishment! As I always say, trust the process because life has lots of great things lined up for you and sometimes disappointments have to happen in order for you to get what you really want. I wish I had some tips for you but have never done something like that before! Just go in with confidence, you will rock the interview! For my husbands job we have to move a lot so life always throws me another curve ball in that matter! I start to get my business going and BAM we have to move! A blessing in disguise!
